Advent Calendar
What it is, what it means, and how to celebrate it
This space exists because of readers like you. If you’ve been enjoying my writing, consider supporting it with a paid subscription. It helps me keep this space ad-free and full of heart.
I love Christmas .
The lights, the decorations, the tree, the gatherings, the presents, all of it!!
But what I love most is its true meaning: Jesus.
What is Advent?
Advent is the four weeks leading up to Christmas, a season of waiting and preparing our hearts for the coming of Jesus.
It begins four Sundays before Christmas (this year, that’s November 30th).
Each week, we light a new candle on the Advent wreath: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, and reflect on what they mean in our lives.
It’s about slowing down, turning inward, and making space for Christ in our daily life by preparing not just the house for Christmas… but the heart.
How to celebrate it
You don’t need to do anything elaborate. You can:
Light a candle each Sunday and say a short prayer.
Read a verse from Scripture as a family.
Do a small act of kindness each day.
Reflect, journal, or pray for someone in need.
In the past years, I used a set of printable cards where each day had a short reflection, plus a craft, and a prayer.
It became one of our favourite family traditions!

And this year… I’m creating something very special.
A Advent Calendar that tells little stories leading to Jesus’ birth, with scripture, reflections, and simple daily activities.
I can’t wait to share it with you. 🌿
It will be free to download for paid subscribers, and I’ll post the link as soon as it’s ready.
Stay tuned!
Advent is coming. Let’s prepare our hearts together ♥️🙏
Love,
Ana

PPS: once a month, paid subscribers will receive a special letter, a little deeper and more personal than my public posts.
They’ll be reflections I don’t want to publish widely, because they’re too personal, too sacred, or still taking shape.
This will be in addition to all the paid content I already share: the essays, reflections, and creative pieces that you’ve been receiving as part of your subscription.
My free posts will always remain (and I’m so grateful you read them).
But this new layer is for those who wish to walk a little closer, to share the moments I usually keep in my notebook.I hope you’ll join me in this next part of the journey ♥️
